Hide & Seek: Lost Books

A cozy logic puzzle for Sudoku lovers.

The new librarian shelved everything wrong last night. Books are in the wrong rows, stuffed into the wrong sections. The whole library is out of order.

Your job is to sort it all out. Take as long as you like.

In-progress Lost Books puzzle: a colored-region grid with three books found and one remaining

How to play

  1. 1

Cross off the shelves that can’t hold a book.

Most shelves are empty. The trick is figuring out which ones aren’t.

  2. 2

    Hold to four simple rules.

One book per row, one per column, one per color region. No two books may touch, not even at the corners.

  3. 3

Let the rules do the work.

Each rule crosses off a few more squares. Keep eliminating until only one spot is left.

  4. 4

    Place it. Move on.

Double-tap to place a book. Find every one and the library falls back into order.

If Sudoku is how you unwind.

You already know the loop: rule out the impossible, find the square that’s left, and the next book reveals itself.

One board is all it takes

Four rules. You’ll have them down before your first solve.

Difficulty that climbs with you

Boards start small and grow as you do. Hit a wall and the game eases up until you find your feet again.

Built for the in-between

A board fits in a coffee break. Your progress waits when you set the phone down.

A line worth keeping

Finish a puzzle and the book you found shares a line. Marcus Aurelius, Jane Austen, Rumi, and scores more.

Earn as you go

Every solve earns a bookmark. Spend them on hints, extra hearts, or a revealed book.

Always another shelf

Puzzles are generated fresh each time. You won’t run out.

Colorblind mode

High-contrast colors and pattern overlays so the board stays readable without relying on color alone.

Music for the mood

A warm soundtrack that settles in behind the puzzle. You’ll want to leave it on.
